ORGANIC COTTON

Organic cotton uses no GM seeds, chemical pesticides or fertilisers. Organic farmers use crop rotation to maximise yield, trapping more CO2 in the ground, which helps to increase biodiversity.

OUR ORGANIC COTTON GABARDINE

The Organic Cotton Gabardine that we use for our trousers is 100% GOTS certified Aegean cotton. It is a high quality, lustrous textile with a distinct steep twill line, produced by a socially responsible textile mill in Turkey.

It is a mid-weight cloth (185g/5.5oz).

Wash at 30 degrees with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble. Shake out and line dry.

LINEN

Linen is a natural material made from flax. Flax is a hardy crop grown widely across Northern Europe, where it needs little or no fertilisers, few pesticides and little irrigation. It is naturally absorbent and so requires less dye than cotton.

Linen is a durable fabric, and also completely recyclable and biodegradable.

OUR SOFTENED LINEN

Our linen is imported from Lithuania. It is woven in a mill run on green energy, and is Oeko-Tex certified.

It is mid-weight (185g/5.5oz), and is laundered at the mill for softness. It doesn’t crease in the way that crisp linens do.

Wash at 30 degrees with a non-bio detergent. Do not tumble. Shake out and line dry. Linen will seize up after washing but as soon as you start to wear it the fibres relax again.

Hemp plants

HEMP

Hemp is a densely-growing, carbon negative crop, which naturally chokes out competing plants. It returns 70% of the nutrients it uses back into the soil. It doesn’t require chemical herbicides, pesticides or fertilisers, and needs very little water.

Hemp is woven into a naturally strong, cool and anti-bacterial textile.

OUR HEMP TWILL

Our jackets are made using a high quality hemp twill cloth (345g/10.2oz). It is both weighty and soft, with a beautiful heavy drape.

This hemp is grown, spun and woven in Eastern Europe. The variety is Mediterranean hemp, which is particularly vigorous and produces a high quality fibre.

Wash inside-out at 30 degrees with a non bio detergent. Do not tumble. Shake out and line dry.

khadi COTTON

This is a traditional lightweight cloth, made in India using traditional hand spinning and hand weaving techniques.

It owes its low carbon footprint to the fact that it is manufactured without using electricity. It also uses vastly less water in its manufacture than mill-produced fabric.

Tencel

Tencel is a cellulose fibre made by environmental innovators Lenzing. The raw material is wood pulp taken from sustainably managed forests. The wood pulp is processed into fibres using chemicals and water, which are reclaimed and re-used in a closed-loop manufacturing process. Lenzing has received awards and sustainability accreditation around the world for developing this process.

Tencel is gentle on the skin, breathable, and ultimately biodegradable and compostable.

OUR TENCEL TWILL

Our Tencel Twill is a mid-weight cloth (180g/5.3oz) with a fluid drape. It’s surface is peachy and matt, with the look of sand washed silk. It is resistant to creasing.

The cloth is made in Turkey and is OKEO-tex certified.

Wash at 30 degrees on a delicate cycle, with a low spin setting, using non bio detergent. Do not tumble.
