My story
I am primarily a designer for performance, creating costumes and sets for theatre productions in the UK and abroad.
My theatre portfolio includes a wide range of work in British venues including the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and Bristol Old Vic, as well as work with international theatre producers.
As a costume designer, I collaborate closely with performers. Our work is focused on expressing character, and in this process we explore the relationship between clothes, the physical body, attitudes of mind, and our emotional life.
My designs for the stage have been recognised with several awards and nominations, including two Tony nominations in New York. While working there, my costumes were featured in a photographic spread in American Vogue.
In 2017 I initiated a sustainability project at the Royal Shakespeare Company while designing Dido Queen of Carthage. My aim was to maximise the use of sustainable textiles in the production of the costumes, and I have used this experience in choosing the fabrics on offer at Article Green.
I have designed a small collection of the kind of clothes that work for me and the people I collaborate with. They are minimal, in the way I understand the term: apparently simple, but achieved with a detailed consideration of proportion and construction. They are designed to let you move easily, carry yourself well and think on your feet, with sustainability built into the design and the production process.
Ti Green.
